Dr. Simon Janashia is an education researcher interested in education policy, curriculum development and sociology of education. His primary research focus is on the transnational policy transfer in education. He is currently associate professor of education at the Caucasus University and serves as a manager of the American Academy Institute at the Guivy Zaldastanishvili American Academy.

Dr. Janashia has two decade-long experience in education policy related development projects. In 2004-2009 he led the general education curriculum and textbook reform in Georgia. Later, he also led a curriculum reform in Ilia State University for the education programs. He has also worked on various international development projects including curriculum and textbook development, teacher training and policy evaluation in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.

Initially trained as a historian at the Tbilisi State University, later Simon Janashia specialized into education, first at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (MA with major in Teaching and Learning) and later at the Teachers College, Columbia University (Ed.D with major in International Educational Development).
