Ghia Nodia
Chairman at Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development
Ghia Nodia is a professor of politics at Ilia State University in Tbilisi, Georgia. He is also the chairman of the Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development (CIPDD), an independent public policy think tank in Tbilisi, Georgia. In February–December 2008, he served as the minister for education and science of Georgia.
He has published extensively on democratization, state-building, security, and conflicts in Georgia and the Caucasus, as well as on theories of nationalism and democracy. Apart from his academic work, he has been involved in pro-democracy advocacy efforts in Georgia and internationally and has been frequent participant of international congresses and conferences on the related topics. He is also a frequent commentator on ongoing political events in Georgian and international media.
